The Latest Updates on New Pennsylvania Online Casinos
The legality of online gambling within the US has always been a complex issue. In some states, online gambling is illegal altogether, while in others, only a limited selection of gambling options was available.
When every state has a different take on the legality of gambling, players have to be more cautious while reading online casino reviews. They have to ask themselves: is this gambling venue suitable for me? Does it have enough to offer? And even if it does, does the casino accept players from my region?
Up until now, there were very few states around the US that legalized online gambling. But in recent months, various states started working towards making gambling more accessible. One of the states that finally joined the race is the state of Pennsylvania, with multiple operators allowing locals to place bets and have fun.
Let’s take a look at the changes in the legal status of online gambling in Pennsylvania and other states across the US!
All There Is to Know
In the past few years, plenty of politicians took the time to address the issue of sports betting in the US, but not much has been said about other types of casino games.
At this moment in time, there are only four states that allow online poker without permitting gamblers to enjoy other types of casino games. The number of states that legalized all types of gambling stands at three: New Jersey, Delaware, and as of a few weeks ago – Pennsylvania.
Back in 2017, gambling laws in Pennsylvania changed drastically, legalizing online poker, sports betting, fantasy sports games, and online casinos. It took almost two years for various operators to obtain the necessary licences and develop the best software that will allow citizens to participate in different types of gambling.
Three gambling venues have already tested their online casino platforms and went public earlier this month: SugarHouse, Hollywood (Penn National), and Parx. Dozens of additional venues plan on acquiring the necessary documents to allow online gambling, but it is still unclear when they will be joining the gambling market.
Operators had to pay an astounding amount of $10 million to get separate licences for online slots, casino games, and online poker. Even though the amount of cash they had to invest is astronomical, the establishments should be able to cover their expenses in little time.
It should be noted that Parx has video poker on offer, but live casino games aren’t available yet.
Since the software still needs to undergo some reviewing, the gambling venue will provide the live dealer casino games at a later date. At this moment in time, the casino can only be accessed via Android smartphones, Mac devices, and computers. Apple hasn’t approved for the casinos to run on iPhones and iPads, but it shouldn’t be long before you can access all casino games via any mobile phone.
Where Can You Expect to See Online Gambling?
Pennsylvania is not the only state that strives to turn online gambling into a legitimate source of income.
Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, and even New York are all working towards legalizing online casinos. It might take awhile before playing online casino games will become a day-to-day activity in those states, but things are bound to change soon, which is something we all can look forward to.
